Class Next Semester

Ok, if I want to learn more about PHP...and need to learn the language or atleast the structure, which would be more beneficial? But then again, I should learn HTML as well.

Introduction to Perl:
Offers an introduction to Perl, a programming language that is widely used to translate data from one format to another and to generate web pages. Requires no previous programming experience. Topics include lists and hashes, loops, regular expressions, file and data handling, references, subroutines, modules, and an introduction to CGI. Uses free Perl software for Windows computers. I think I'm going to take a 1 credit class on Javascript class for something else to do:
Introduces this English-based, script, platform-neutral, object-oriented, and secure programming language. Also introduces the Java applet, and includes the standard Java class libraries and stand-alone applications. Previous programming knowledge is highly recommended.

Perhaps I'll make room for both the Perl and Programming for the Web.

You need to know HTML before you start any scripting, because the output of your script should be a page of HTML tags and the visible content itself.

If you have no idea about HTML coding then all the clever scripts in the world will not build decent HTML pages at all.

Same as g1msd says, although you can learn programming and HTML at the same time, there's nothing particularly connecting the two.

Perl will teach you the basics of programming logic and outputting stuff to the page, and the web class should, if decently taught [in other words, hand coding, not dreamweaver etc] will teach you the basics of HTML and CSS.

In terms of output, unless you are writing out tables, you don't need to know that much HTML when you start out, it's pretty basic.

I think you're mixing javascript and java up, the 1 credit class sounds like a java class, not a javascript class.
