Hi,

I have NO idea what I am doing, but this is what I need.

On my homepage there will be a link where dealers click to be taken to a "dealers page". Once they are taken to the dealer page there will be general dealer information and updates along with a login screen.

This is where I get lost - the login screen. I want the dealers the be able to login and then be taken directly to their own specialized page that was created for them.

I do not want them to have the ability to register because upon becoming a dealer, over the phone, I will give them their login information and then make their specialized page. The dealers do not need to have any control over their accounts.

It seems like this should be rather simple, but I have no idea what code I need.

You will need a database that stores their login name and password and the details of the page they will be taken to.

This is a job for a custom script that resides on your webserver, written in PHP, ASP, or somesuch. There are code examples all over the net that you can adapt for your purpose, or you can hire someone to write it for you. That will cost you for several days pay at the very least.

If you are willing to learn PHP/MySQL or any other server-side language, it would help you alot. I would suggest PHP/MySQL just because it is (in my opinion) the easiest server-side language to learn.

Once you learn the structure of one server-side language, you can easily relate it to another one because a lot of server-side languages are similar. It's just a matter of learning the different syntaxes each language uses.

Another solution is to use the control panel to generate a username and password for a specific directory. This option is viable only for a limited number of dealers. The control panel option is available with most Apache virtual hosting.
