JimWorld Forums: Yahoo! Directory for free???

Has anyone had their site added to the Yahoo Directory for free? Is this even possible? I heard in another forum that somebody's site was added without them submitting. Thay claim that they were linked to from a site that was in the directory, and that is how they got listed. I find this hard to believe, because if Yahoo deep crawled links for the directory, then most of our sites would already be included. I know the directory, just like like DMOZ, helps with rankings, but paying that much isn't worth it for me. Thanks,

SB - you'll wnat to remove THIS link, too - as per the rules.

As for getting listed for free in Yahoo - apparently it can happen - but mostly for non-commercial websites - and even then, it's a LONG wait for the inclusion.

A while back (a year or so ago), the buzz was to go get listed somewhere like Yahoo.co.uk and you'd eventually end up listed in Yahoo.com's directory.

No idea if that's feasible, but the bottom line remains - if you are commercial, they expect you to pay the $299.

...and don't confuse them finding your site with actually listing it in the directory...

Commercial businesses must pay to be listed. Non-commercial sites don't have to pay to be listed.

In many commercial categories they help you out--you cannot submit a free listing.
