Google Forum Rules - READ these BEFORE POSTING
1. Avoid including URLs in your post especially if they are to your own site. If you would like members to take a look at your site, refer them to your Profile. You can change the URL in your profile whenever you like so if there is a particular page you would like people to look at, change the URL in your Profile to that page, and later, when your question(s) have been answered, change it back. To edit your Profile, just click on your name in any post you have made, then edit the "Homepage/URL" part.
2. Do not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, rude, disrespectful, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.
3. Do not post adult or sexually-oriented material or links to sites containing such material.
4. Do not post advertisements, offers, solicitations or inducements of any kind, including offers to "sign up", "try out" or get anything, free or otherwise.
5. Do not ask people to respond to your questions/comments, by email. All discussion should be made in the forum.
6. Do not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by the owners of the Search Engine Forums.
7. Do not use signatures in your posts - we already know who you are from your member name and profile. The following examples are all signatures:
- Bill Smith
ABC Enterprises Inc
"Our Service Can't be Beat"
- Bill Smith
ABC Enterprises Inc
- Bill Smith
Note: Use of your first name e.g. "Bill", is now permitted and can make your post friendlier.
8. Flaming (rudeness, hostility) will not be tolerated. Be polite.
9. Do not make "off topic" posts (i.e. posts not relevant to the subject(s) of the thread. Off topic posts are not permitted and will be deleted. The occasional joke type comment that lightens the mood is fine, but derailing a thread is unacceptable.
10. Do not use returns at the end of each line, in the posting box. Only use the "Return" or "Enter" key between paragraphs.
11. Posting styles. Do not type subject lines or posts in ALL CAPS, hACkOR SP33K, aLtErNaTiNg cApS, or any other difficult to read style. It will not attract the kind of attention you are hoping for and may actually get your post deleted. When typing use proper grammer punctuation and spelling. This is a community of professionals from around the world and some do use online translators to read your post. If it's riddled with street speak it will be unreadable thus ignored.
Take advantage of our new forum features Here are some examples:
1. You can now sticky/PM any member - even those whose email addresses are hidden. Click the 'Private Message' link located in the upper right corner of the members post or via their profile. Don't forget to Check your Private Messages notification located at the top of any forum page just above the Search box and under your logged in status where it says Inbox, click 'Inbox' to view any new messages.
2. To search the Google forum for previous posts about the subject in which you are interested, click "Search" at the top left corner of the screen.
3. To reset the number of days of posts that are displayed, go into the "Edit Profile" section (top right of page) and set the "How many days do you want to view forum posts for?" to whatever you want eg. 120 days. You can then scroll back through threads for 120 days, if you want.
Google Dance. This creates tremendous interest each month but there are a lot of false alarm posts. Please do not start multiple threads about this subject. Generally, the first thread which mentions this subject, will become the official Google Dance thread for that month. Other threads which are opened about the Google Dance, once the official thread has been declared, will be closed and/or deleted. When the Dance finishes (i.e. the results move to the www servers) the Dance thread will be closed and normal conditions apply - i.e. you are free to open threads to discuss any aspect of the new index.
Lurkers. For those lurkers out there, you should participate and make posts - you will learn so much more. Remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question - and we were all beginners just a couple of years ago.
Also, take time to read the Jimworld Code of Conduct and revised TOS
We hope you enjoy your experiences in the Google forum and learn a lot.
Thanks for visiting us!
