Hey

The title says it all really.

Who is the most reliable domain register?

Things that spring to mind, price, aftercare and most imporatant of all "Speed in which they register the domain"

Thanks

do you mean just to obtain a domain name or to host a site at?

I am a tad confused as of the word "aftercare".

I buy mine through my hosting service, so I don't have to re-point it or anything. They email me 4 months before it needs renewed again. Price is 14.95 - not as cheap as go daddy but I trust my host 99% more then anyone else smile

Other things being equal, it would be best to go with a separate domain name registrar rather than your host for booking your domains. This way, you always have access to your domains and you can change the host within about 48 hours (the time it takes to propagate your DNS at the maximum time).

be carefull when getting your domain from a cheap hosting company. read the small print.

a while back i took over a site for someone who purchased from there host, (a well know company) and it turned out that they did not own their domain, the hosting company did. They just kinda leasted it.

they ended up losing it when we moved to a new host.

you probably wouldn't even know that this is happening unless you go to move your site.
