Sad day that they feel the need to make this move. I understand why it's being done, but I feel for those impacted.

Their profits have dipped sharply. It also suggests they expect more bad news to come.

Don't be surprised to get blinded by some huge flash pop up on yahoo
Didn't one of the engines do that years ago? Can't quite remember which one though!

Yahoo must start doing something about their situation or they will be in serious trouble, and I dont think that selling everything to microsoft is going to solve any problem...

FYI: dapyxxx's reference to Microsoft buying Yahoo can be found here. It's an interesting read.
The story speculates that even if Microsoft buys Yahoo, it still won't be able to compete effectively against Google's search services. It would seem that google pretty much has a monopoly on search and the search ad industry.
I still remember the days when we had competing engines like Excite, Yahoo, Infoseek, OpenText, Hotbot, AltaVista, Snap, and a few other engines or search indexes. Those were interesting times because the playing field was more level back then and yah didn't exactly know who would end up on top. Then along came Google, starting out small and getting a loyal following. Now Google-zilla is the giant that squashes all others.
Me thinks Google has such strong brand awareness that other SE's can't compete.

MSN wants to buy Yahoo
Let's discuss this. What do you see as the search future if that went through?
