start on your own websites. get them indexed and then use them as a porfolio. hard to get work if you don't have successful results of you work to show your customers.

here's another way. participate in the forum. make good comments and postings and do it often. the people here will see your mettle and someone here may approach you for help. but that takes time and trust. Get posting
