I really like this idea.

Have you thought about traffic conversions?

A large part of visitors abandon a purchase for some reason ...

Thanks for the spam affiliate link. What's your commission?

One Dollar per Idiot, or more?

this is just stupid and a client wanted to try something like this for his site recently. He should just listen to me. Maybe this should be another thread.

Why Are Shopping Carts Abandoned:
1) people use them as calculators, they just want to see how much it will all cost
2) they leave because they have to register, customers just want to buy, they don't wnat to join your site or be your friend
3) they look to see if the cart looks secure and trustworthy. I've failed to purchase many times because the cart is just unprofessional and I don't trust it.
4) They don't have a paypal account
5) the cart froze or didn't work for them
6) the shipping was too high
7) their credit card is in their pants and they are too lazy to get up and put their pants back on smile
8) duh! its called window shopping

The spam posted program will only p**s customers off that may very well come back on their own. That program introduces the one aspect of online shopping that has been missing thus far.

The pushy salesman that puts himself between you and the door!

6) the shipping was too high

On many sites it's nearly impossible to figure out shipping costs without going thru the cart. I've seen some that just say "shipping will be added at checkout" so there's no other way to know what it will cost and whether or not you'll be charged sales tax.

That is a great list. I have heard of a lot of fretting over shopping cart abandonment, but I know I have gone into a shopping cart just to see what something would cost. And other times I have wanted to buy a number of items, added one or two, found that the rest were not available, and left for another site in hopes of finding them all at the same place.

like JQ said it happened to me personallu a few times i just used the shopping cart to see all the together cost because those sites did not mention the shipping cost, they think its better to not say how much it is and in the end some might just give in and buy the product anyways but thats not true many will give up .

My absolute favourites are the ones that take you through 27 slow, slow, stages, then tell you to go hang because you want international shipping.

Waste of my life and their bandwidth.

9) the cart is on a different website and the back button does not work

Don't start me on blocked back buttons ... that's about the only thing I hate more than pop-ups!
