Answers.com being used by Google for definitions

Google switched to Answers.com for it's definition link as it's far superior then anything else out there. You get answers for searches, not links.

IMO, Except for their visual appearence and ad-free interface, there not anything new or surprising. They use a collection of various databases and display resutls from it, they dont have their own data.

No I don't work for them. I love their search site though and obviously Google likes them enough to use them. I think it's great that you don't have to search millions of links and can find the answer you're looking for on one page. Answers.com is no doubt a great compliment to Google.

Whatever google creates or uses does not necessarily have to be good.

I dont like Froogle, Google News and Google Image Search. There's no point in using answers.com just because google uses them.

Anyway, thats just me. Other may like it..

Google doesn't own the data you search either. It's called content SEARCH. The great thing about Answers.com is you don't have to search millions of pages, but instead find everything you're looking for on one page. Well, google does have its own database of indexes that is not readily available unlike the database Answers.com Uses. So, this is incomparable & insensible.

In anycase, I dont intend to defame the service in any manner, but the fact remains that they dont have an 'Innovative Technology' in place considering the way its being advertised with the name of google.

According to my knowledge in this scene so far and my discussion with their 'Director of Product Management', they use a collection of several readily available resources/databases, of which they use Wiki primarily.
