Any advice on SEO certification?

I've noticed that there are more than a few online companies offering "SEO certification", but some appear a bit flakey. Can anyone point me to a legit organization that offers a professional certification program? Thanks.

I don't think there is any "official" certification anywhere.

Anyone can call themselves an SEO and then butcher your site.

If you know what you are doing, the best Certification is a note from your client saying "Pay to the Order of Mel Cooper & Company" wink

There have been attempts to set standards and certifications...one of the top SEO firms has set up a "certification" program....but it really is only worth the paper it is printed on...and can really only be based on that company's approach...

One would expect to see attempts to set these type of standards as the relatively young SEO industry matures..
there's SEMPO... which doesn't seem to get mentioned much in the forums I visit...

There is such a range involved in any SEO campaign...really depends on where a site is...where it's been...what the sector is...etc..etc..etc..

If they start certification programs then it should come frm the W3C who can set the standards for the bassis of this, not any individual firm or persons.
