I hate to sound like the village idiot among SEO pros, but I'm confused about the meaning of the following terms:
"backlink"
PR[#]
Thanks!

PR is page ranking
back link is an external site that links to yours.

pagerank is a number from 0 to 10 that Google assigns to a page based on how many other pages link to that page, among several factors.
It is just one of over 100 factors that Google uses to rank sites in their search results.

I wish I could. No-one ouside the 'plex knows what they all are, nor how they are weighted.
If someone did have that knowledge then it would be worth more than knowing Colonel Sander's secret recipe, and Coke's and Pepsi's all together.

Your "backlink" or "inbound links" can be both EXTERNAL (coming from outside your domain and pointing into your domain to either your root url - home page - or any interior page) or INTERNAL - they can be any of your interior pages pointing to your root url - home page...
"backlinks" "inbound" links are critical pieces to successful search engine listings
