You are not good enough to do SEO work for any body, paid or free, if you think you are good enough to do SEO work simply by reading SEO forums. SEO forums are full of half-truth and mis-information. Even if you have read some SEO techniques, knowing the techniques and actually implementing them are entirely different.

99.9999% of web pages will NEVER be found with ANY keyword searches. Just because you have done some SEO, your web page will still need to out ranking the other 99.9999% of web pages to be found with keyword searches. Your competitors are doing SEO also.

Top 1000 is required to be ever found in ANY keyword searches because search engines only display top 1000 results. There is nothing after 1000.

Here is the math, for example, if you keyword has 1,000,000 matches:

Top 1000 will be 0.01% or NEVER be found!
Top 100 will be 0.001%, which are the first 10 pages.
Top 10 will be 0.0001%, which is the first page, but you still could be #10.
You got to be 0.00005% to be top 5!

7,090,000 for sex toys
10,600,000 for adult toys
12,900,000 for search engine optimization
13,800,000 for online casino
25,900,000 for hotel reservations
86,000,000 for corporate awards

A half learned SEO is dangerous and could do major damages to a web site because of improper implementation of SEO techniques.

You should set up your own web site and be your own guinea pig!

I understand what you are saying but im not asking to be let lose on any web site ! i understand the problems i could cause if i got something wrong this is why i have asked here !
Just looking for a break - try my ideas and let a 'expert' check it over ... if its good they can use it and if its a pile of cr*p then they can tell me what i did wrong and i will go off and redo it !

Just wanted to test myself and get some guidence and learn!

Can set my own site up and work on this but if i do wrong i have no one to tell me why and my understanding is that this all takes time so i could spend 12 months working on my site and getting it totally wrong ... or i could do some free work for someone who knows what they are talking about and get a little guidence ?
After all i may have lernt something and could offer a good seo guy a chance of a little less work? just trying to learn ... but hey thanks for the kick in the teeth !

As for your comment
"SEO forums are full of half-truth and mis-information"
I thought this is why you the expert join the forums to help and guide us less experienced people !?

Or do you just place cr*p in the forums to put people off the chance of learning ....

You are asking everybody to hold your hand and baby sit you so you can be trained to become SEO competent!

And, on top of that you want someone to give you a site to play with?

Are you kidding me?

trev - for what it matters I see nothing wrong with your idea and hope someone takes you up on it. That is just how I learned and am still learning - now I do it on my own sites and have someone watching over me and correcting/guiding me - its a never ending learning process and I wish you the best smile

Beth
