I really want to go to this convention in San Jose, but there is just no way my company can afford to send me... Is there ANYBODY who needs a reporter, Note taker, scheduler, etc. that has a way to get me in? I will gladely pay my own travel expenses but the company said "$1600....no way!!"
Any suggestions on how to get in for less, (volunteer work?)would be helpful....I am sure it is worth every penny, but I cant swing it....
Thanks.

Ooops! All they heard was, "For $1,600 you can send me to San Jose."
Try putting together a small presentation pack on how it would benefit the company. Even put in a small budget to hand out stuff with your company logo.

As I see it you have two choices: dress very convincingly as a very much liberated woman, or, disguise yourself as Bill Gates... I would strongly urge that you don't try and combine the two, I did it and ended up spending 4 nights with a quaker...

actually you can probably get a copy of the SES Conference handbook, or copy one for about $20. The handbooks have many of the slides and keynotes from the conference, the only thing you will miss out on is being bored to death by bad speakers and bad food.
