hey Guys and girls,

I think I have just found a case of hijacking, but I'm not too sure, remember reading about it somewhere and I think the URL was similar to this

www.someonesdomain.com/cgi-bin/out.cgi?url=http://www.domain-that-shouldn't-be-here.co.uk

Is this a 301 hijack? If it is, what do I do, just report it to Google?

I'd be interested to have a look at that.

Can I have more specific details please? PM me if you like.

I've had a quick look at it, but I'm not an expert on hijacking.

The cgi code forces the link to open in a frame so it is probably some sort of automated directory building or link exchange software in action.

That's my best guess.

The hijacking last year involved 302 redirects not the 301 variety.

Giz,

Is the 302 thing sorted with Google now then?

Sorted?

Depends on what you mean by sorted...

Google says it is sorted, but as far as I can see they sorted it by trying to hide such results from the results. The underlying problem is still there, in that many affected pages/sites are still missing from the index.
