advanced techniques of web promotion?

Hi all,

I am Bonnie, would really appreciate your help - does anyone know any other efficient and free (!) promotion techniques/way except for social bookmarking, directories, submitting articles, press releases, rss, blogging/splogging?

What is splogging??

A splog (spam blog) is a fake blog created solely to promote affiliated Web sites, with the intent of skewing search results and artificially boosting traffic.

so...technically when you create a blog external to your site for the sole purpose of promoting your website you have splogged

or if you get paid by a company to promote a product of service on your blog, you have splogged

it is good or bad?...

depends on whether you abuse it or not and how high a profile you have.

payforpost had many issues come up as the bloggers were being paid to review products by advertisers. this defeats the purpose fo a blog, an unbiased, nonpartisan personal opinion of whatever or even a daily diary. I don't believe that google is penalizing anyone for this at the moment unless they get on their radar.

lets say i have a website that sells SEO services. I create an external blog about SEO. If I write about how great i am and just about my company, thats a splog.(I'm selling) If I write about seo technigues, online marketing and my opinion on current trends, and just reference my site with a BTW link, perhaps in my sig,(I'm opinionating) thats a blog.

I believe the latter has more value.

What is the best way to promote your blog ??

Fill it with original content that is good and people will want to read. Don't think of "tricks" to get people there. If you trick them to get them the wont be worth having. Good Content = quality visitors = $$

I prefer to ping via pingomatic or/and pingoat, make sitemap and rss for additional techniques

At this moment of time you can win Google confidence by asking people to book mark your website and write reviews about your product or services. This does'nt mean that you leave other basics of Search Engine Marketing but these two actions are the latest value added elements for search engines (Google) to award your website with high rankings.

Try to explore Social Networks & Message Boards and post your optimized text over there.
