What I love about these black hatters is the lengths they go to convince us that they are 'not really' black hatters.
Thing is, it's quite simple: if you follow guidelines and don't try to game Google (etc), then you are white hat.
If you do, then you are black hat. There's no 'third way'.
I've never had a problem talking with people who admit to being 'black hat' - I don't agree with them, and on occasion, I've been able to show them that if they applied their intelligence in a 'white hat' way, they'd do better - and sleep better. On occasion I've failed to do that. But they've yet to convince me that it's a wise route. Maybe I just don't like risks!
I never try to convince anyone on 'moral grounds'. No-one ever converted anyone to anything on a moral discussion; it's an utter waste of time trying.
It just so happens that in SEO, provided you don't want results NOW (and are prepared to take the risk that goes with NOW results), then 'white hat' methods are simply better.
What makes me laugh is these blackhatters (who call themselves grey, blue, sepia or whatever), who cannot admit it, even on totally anonymous blogs, like your fellow.
If cheating is so darned effective, why the need for such denial? Conscience? I doubt it!
And if they're that scared of Google identifying them, doesn't it occur to them that Google can find their spammy sites so much more easily?
What used to make me laugh, but doesn't any more is those highly intelligent and able people - who could do so well by honest means, but still choose to try to game Google, and damage their clients - and the reputation of SEO - because however intelligent and able, their greed is greater. It's a shame.
