Can I trust SEO co. that says guarantee top result

I am a web marketer and I did a pretty good job getting all our product pages listed on google and other SEs. We even rank high for most of the the terms related to those products.

But today I get a call from a SEO company. They say that they guarantee top 10 placement for 80% of the keywords that I would choose. Even highly competitive keywords.

I asked if this would require changes on our code or content. He said no. I asked if they worked with people inside the SE companies. He said no.
So I insisted that I don't believe in any offer of top ten placements for competitive words if it won't require changes to my site or anything like that.

He insists that they have a software and can do that, and they guarantee the results.

What do you think about it? Any advice?

I know there are no guarantees. But there is a money back guarantee, that's what I mean.

They did show me someof their clients ranking top #1 or #2 for highly competitve words like Lingerie, Eletronics and Discount notebooks.

That's what make me think about it.

They say they have a software that does that. But I have been working with SEO for a long time , and I just can't imagine how could they manipulate SERPs without changing my content or code. They can't do that just with inbound links.

I wouldn't deal with anyone who uses "software" to get rankings. SEO is all about a personal touch, and no software can do proper SEO.

Doing SEO the right way takes time. It takes the proper massaging of a website's internal pages, along with a linking campaign (among other things). And only a human can do that.

Someone who pitches their SEO services with statements that include "software" and other black-hat terminology is pitching their services to you to make a quick buck. Besides, their guarantee probably doesn't mean anything, anyway.

If they are using "software" or a "software program" to achieve results...chances are the results may not sustain themselves properly..
you could see some results then find yourself in real trouble in the SERPs..
if they are modifying your site then you really need to be cautious if they are using software generated code and mixing this with your code...

If they are cloaking then you are paying them to build up their intellectual property base which they will eventually sell to someone else...or worse..they may run ads (Adsense) on any redirect domains that are delivering traffic to your site and your competitors will be showing up in these ads...


There are many different variations on the "top 10 guarantee" ... it's a great way to entice business owners to listen to a very aggressive sales pitch (by aggressive I simply mean...try to say no)..

Money back guarantees are marketing fluff....you will find that being promised a money back guarantee is very different from actually going through the process of getting you money back (and it's likely you wouldn't get all you money back...months and months will go by with your valuable adverstising dollars tied up with yet another scam...)

True SEO work is an experiential art/science...it takes solid knowledge with the right mix of intuition...software simply cannot provide this mix..

I would be cautious in this matter....

The problem will start when its time to for them to honor the money back guarantee. So I will suggest you to stay away from them.

If the deal is too tempting for you then I will suggest setup a second website on a different server and ask them to get a ranking on only 1 competetive keyword. If they can do it then you are the luckiest person alive, if they cant you are you are even luckier!

It sounds like a great way that they have for churning out junk pages that clutter the search engines up. I would most certainly not wish to have my business name associated with such methods, however successful they may be. The other problem with off site optimisation (that is served from pages that you have no control over) is that if you go with it you need to watch out for ongoing maintenance fees. Stop paying and the pages are pulled putting you back where you were prior.
