My first post

Hi everybody, this is my first ever post. i like sunset walks on the beach, sci fi films and jack daniels.

anyway, i was working for a firm that were spending 5 figures a month on ppc advertising and thought there must be a way i can have my own google/yahoo/overture, so i had a look around and this is what i have found:

hyperseek.com/index.php (copyright notce out of date and no release or bug fix info)

focalmedia.net (not as comprehensive toolwise as hyperseek)

smarterscripts.com/smartsearch (too cheap)

has anyone got/used any of the above products? are there any others i should look at? hyperseek seem to be the best package but i am concerned there website looks like a ghost website (hasn't been updated since 2004)

i have a cunning plan for my promotion. i was just wondering if there is a google type product out of the box.

cheers

Hi speedcameras, welcome to SEF! Hyperseek is developed by John Cokos who is the owner of this forum as well. John does have our copyright up to date down below ... lol ... but evidently hasn't updated it on the hyperseek site. He is around, but definitely a busy guy.

Welcome Aboard speedcameras. So you like sunset walks on the beach, sci fi films and jack daniels ? Good introduction. smile

The answer, I am afraid is no.

If you are looking for a directory software, then your choice of Hyperseek is excellent. I have personally used this software and I can say that it is a powerful software which can do a lot more than you would expect from a typical directory software.

On the other hand, running a search engine in the scale of Google calls for resources far beyond the reach of most - to put it mildly. smile

hey thanks guys. like i said, i like the look of hyperseek its just the copyright stuff and few other things i noticed concerned me. hello mr cokos if your reading this.

i own speedcameras.com, my plan is to build the website as a forum and then wrap (sponsor) it with my new search engine and become a gazillionaire.

i'm hoping to make a few bright n' powerful people here so that i may make friends for the future.

Well speedy, since you're looking for friends AND will become a gazillionaire, I'm Duane - welcome to the forums - pleased to meet you! smile

Seriously, if you have specific questions for John, you'd be better served dropping him a private message - he's a busy guy and tough to locate sometimes.

wassup duane.

i'm just trying to figure whether to hyperseek my new search engine. the other thing i have noticed is hyperseek does not enable video,mp3,img searches. i think this will become more important. so everyone rates hyperseek?

Cokos Here ...

One thing to remember is that Hyperseek is not a true "Search Engine", in that it's not a crawler, spider or indexer. It's not going to go out there and find mp3's, images, etc for you.

It's a directory (think "Yahoo", not "Google" ), so you can add links (and previews) of any movies or musing into it that you want to.

The Demo / Copyright links go away once you purchase it -- your new license key automatically removes them.

Let me know if there's any other questions that you have.
