Name of Site/Business: Midlife Bachelor

Site's Main Purpose: Information

Please Review the following:
Does the home page sufficiently convince people to go further into the site?

Does/can the site achieve its main purpose?

Navigation. Is it clear and easy to understand?

Search engine marketing. Can the pages be reasonably well indexed by search engines?

Additional Comments/Notes
I'm especially interested if anyone with a Mac or Linux system can check out the section under Dating Advice -> Fundamental Truths. These pages look great under Internet Explorer, but terrible with Firefox. I'm curious if the typical browsers on Macs and Linux systems have the same problems that Firefox does. The Midlife Bachelors of America thank you in advance for your help!!!

Here is a very useful tool to test how your pages look in different browsers. Please uncheck all those that you don't particularly wish to check because it will limit the results others can see and mean you will not see the key browsers you want to see (your request expires after a certain period of time):

That appears to be a very good tool - thanks for the input. Only problem is that it must be a very busy site because two of my three submissions timed out. But I did get to see what one page looks like under one of the Linux browsers. I'll try again late at night, and see if the timeouts don't happen as frequently. THANKS!

For timing out problems:

1. Set the Maximum wait period to 4 hours
2. Only check 3 or 4 browsers at a time (so uncheck nearly all the browsers)

I like the concept of your web site, I'll even recommend it to my mid life single guy friends. My only thing was the home page I wasn't really clear what the web site was about until I started digging around, easy to navigate throughout the site. Good luck

Good color schemes used. Top is too much jumbled up. Too much content and scrolling. Overall good if it serves its purpose.

Mate, you got some great content and a great idea.
The biggest problem that I can see though, is that I take one look at that site and have no idea where to start.

The Home Page should be a nice, easy overview of what your site has and how I can find it. Some teasers and some brief links are great, but what you got is TEXT. I look and see TEXT and LINKS and PARAGRAPHS. Uffda.

Some clever re-organisation would mean lightyears of usability for you. Remember that it doesn't ALL have to be on your homepage. Tease me, bait me, show me that you have what I'm looking for, it's just a click or two in, it doesn't have to be right there for me.

Other than that, great concept and one that's very similar to a client of mine here in Oz. Good luck with that.

(edit) Oh, almost forgot. One of the Cardinal Sins of web design. You gave me a Horizontal Scrollbar on the homepage. Dude, I'm only on 1024, but that's still about the norm and that's what you gotta design for. BIG No-No.

Hi
I think your website looks great in terms of attractiveness and content. You do seem to have everything in place. I do not know much about SEO but your site prompted me to look into the site and learn more. It worked well in Firefox. You do have alot of content and more info on the home page ie links organised would be good I think, as you have the links up the top only but much content on the home page, more links to the content would be better I feel. But I am no expert

Thanks for your input! I am in the process of a major rev, and will absolutely remove the clutter from the home page. I am learning MANY great lessons with this site. Thanks to everyone for your valuable input!

As for SEO put all your meta tags just after the title tag. The title tag s/b first after the header tag.

Also, use 'bachelor, men, man, mature, mature men' in your meta keywords and be sure that the meta description contains all the keywords. Use lower case for all words if possible in meta tags.

Add a few more keywords into your title tag.
