Additional Comments/Notes
Hi Guys
It's been 6 months since commencing SEO on this site and although the SERP results have improved over this time for all of our 20 key words/phrases, frustration has lead me to ask the question "am I missing something obvious" that may continue to hold us back from our true potential.
I have come to very much respect the opinions of many in this forum and would greatly appreciate it if any of you could give this the 'once over' to see if we have made any big 'boo boos' in our SEO attempts that we may have overlooked ... many thanks.

Hi,
I think your search results are nog bad
"car rental brisbane" 5th position
"car rental Coolangatta" 6th position
"car rental Surfers Paradise" 7th position
"car rental Cairns" 6 position
On Dutch Google.
Ok, it's not perfect, but it is very very good. If I needed to rent a car over there I would definetly end up at your website, it looks good, it's clear with pricing and what you get.
Good luck,
Danny

No so good in the UK, especially without the ""; but how are results in Aus?
I suspect you are trying to do too much with one page; SEs look at pages, not sites, so I'd consider making a page aimed at customers in Brisbane at domain.cm/brisbane/ and so on; each page would focus on that city, with your local deals and address (maybe a small map).
This would make a more 'personalised' service for those people, and would be better for SEO - one page should only aim to promote 2 to 3 key words / phrases.
Your site navigation would need to be user friendly to ensure people could easily find the right page if they landed on the 'wrong' page - and the cities would need to interlink anyway, if you have a pick up here drop off there policy.
