I will be creating links on my website that point to some files on my server by using the following format <A HREF="http://ipaddress/folder/file.pdf">some link</A>.

Is there a more secure way of accessing these files?

What do you mean by "secure"? Do you want people to be authenticated before they'll be allowed to download the pdf? Or do you want to hide the fact that they're being downloaded from the "ipaddress"?
