Hello to all in the forum. Before asking any questions my first comments are, I am "Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas". For those of you who do not believe in Christmas, I wish you a very nice day!

I plan on building a web site. But, I am not interested in adding it to search engines at the moment. My main interest is to build a web site with password capabilities, which will include passwords for downloads.
I say this because I had built a few web sites before and I am aware that once the spiders have crawled your web site, your downloads are open to the public. My new web site has only 25Gb transfer at the moment and I don´t need the public taking my monthy transfers at the moment.
I have downloaded a few Freebie Templates with password capabilities, but how do start with them? I have never used passwords before.

To add to the first comments:

I seem to have left out the question.

I need help on adding password capability to a web site.
Can anyone help me?

Assuming you use an Apache webserver, you can protect a whole folder by using the .htaccess file. Google for a tutorial.

Alternatively you can use PHP to create a userlist and a password for each. Sites such as php.net can explain the whole thing and there are many example scripts already written to do this.
