It all started with change of host for my homepage. The old one did not care for hosting the webpage any longer. "Not a core issue" they said.
I got a new host and thought it was ok. It is, except they do not allow cgi-scripts other than their own formmail.
This left me with an library of advices collected through many years at my homepage - not searchable any longer. I used to use FDSE (xav.com), but it requires the use of cgi.
What to do then? I tried Google (just insert free searchcode and add water), but I could not make it search through my own homepage as the only place.
Is there any way for me to get a website search engine, that can be configured to search i a single directory of .php-files at my homepage? Most preferrable would be a search engine who could present the results in my homepages' own stylesheet. Pushy commercials not accepted since the homepage is for a association and I do not wish to scare people away.

Did you try Google Coop? I've made this work perfectly on many sites.

Try this PHP search engine : [link]
The vanilla version will have a link to their site, which can be removed if you opt for professional version.
Along the lines of Google Coop, you have one custom search engine - eurekster.com
Google custom search requires that your site is well indexed by the Google to make any meaningful search. You will have to spend some time weeding out other results.

The PHP search engine worked as soon as I made a complete list of links to the pages that I wanted to be crawled. All stuffed in a single, hidden page.
iSearch fitted my needs very well. All that's left now is to integrate the design to my own page.
Thanks for the help and the links.
