Hi,
We were spending about $2,000 p.m. with About. I installed an affiliate scheme on the site and used that to track registrations through About/Sprinks. Surprise, surprise, one registration in over 3,000 clicks which didn't pay off.
So, we cancelled with About/Sprinks and so far haven't really noticed any change in our registrations from customers.
What are your opinions on About/Sprinks? Is there a way of refining their clicks somehow? We have had some registrations through them over the years so are they maybe subbing out their results to dodgy places?

Sprinks' distribution partners include Cnet, Mamma.com, Excite.com, Forbes.com, DogPile.com and ofcoarse About.com.
They are quite expensive (especially the Content Sprinks).
It really depends on your target demographic I guess.

iVillage is another big partner.
WHat PPCwire said about target demographic counts a lot with sprinks.
How does that 1/3000 rate compare with your other PPC efforts? Overall traffic to registrations?

No problems with our account, just disappointment. We had a 20c Content Sprinks listing (No 1) for ESL and received lots of hits from it. This went through our own affiliate scheme link so I can see exactly how many registrations came through on it. Very, very few. We've been advertising with About for a couple of years now but the time has come. We're just not getting a decent sale per hit ratio.
Can Sprinks increase that? I don't think so. I just believe that the quality of our hits was not suited to our business. Google and Overture on the other hand...

Igal: Please do me a favor and get in touch with customer support so I can look at your account. Don't want you to give account info. on the message boards...but have some ideas of how to fix it and will make it worth your while to try us again. I'd hate to lose your business. Thanks for the tip, Sprinks Guy.
Sprinks have been decent about it. They gave me some gift money to play with and "reformed" the main listing we had to pull traffic to our site. We're getting far fewer hits than before, but we're keeping a good idea on the quality and no doubt I will be back to finish of this thread later in the month one way or the other with the results of this change.
