Last night, I received this notice.

Strangely enough.. my site does not fit the description of sites they don't allow. My site has not changed much since they approved it back in June of 2003, and my site has very relevant ads showing up on it. I even made a small text change on my site 6 months ago at the request of Google Adsense, and at that point they still thought my site was good for adsense. As far as I can tell, I haven't broken the rules, somebody there has simply decided to kick me out.

My web-based email site has over 90,000 users, and does "include" a chat and message board, but the ads don't show up on those pages.

If they don't like my site because it's a web-based email... why didn't they say so? If it's because of chat and a message board (that no ads are on, and hardly anybody uses) then isn't jimworld's adsense ads at risk as well?

I replied to them last night, but I have not received a response.

sad

"Our program specialists regularly review AdSense websites for various criteria, including, but not limited to, site content, clear navigation, and the site's potential value to the AdSense program and the user experience. We also reserve the right to disable ad-serving to certain sites.

While reviewing your account, our specialists noticed that you are displaying AdWords ads on a type of website that we don't currently support in our program (my url removed). Such websites include,
but are not limited to, chat sites, personal pages, sites that drive traffic through cybersquatting or domain parking, domain registration sites, traffic and banner exchanges, and competing ad networks. As a result, we have disabled ad-serving to this URL.

Your account remains active, and you should have no trouble displaying ads on your other sites which comply with our policies. However, because [my url removed] is the site currently associated with your application, in order to continue participating in Google AdSense we ask that you please reply to this email with the URL of a site that complies with
our policies.

Google has certain policies in place that we believe will help ensure the effectiveness of AdWords ads for our publishers as well as our advertisers. We believe strongly in freedom of expression and
therefore offer broad access to content across the web without censoring results. At the same time, we reserve the right to exercise editorial discretion when it comes to the ads we display in our AdWords program and the sites on which we choose to display them in our AdSense program, as noted in
our respective terms and conditions.

Please feel free to reply to this email with any questions. Thank you for your understanding."

It could be that because they're going to be offering gmail, they are thinking that it will compete with them.
