I hope this wasn't asked/answered elsewhere, I couldn't find it.

Which is better? Adsense IMAGE or TEXT ads? It seems most sites display the TEXT version, but I find it completely boring and never click on them. I love graphics and notice graphical ads more (as long as they aren't annoying). I tried both on a test page and I really like the graphic ones. I realize the visually impared can't see the graphics but that aside...

Also, TEXT ads - does background color matter? Someone somewhere said it should be the same as the main page background color but I think it should be the opposite. Anything to back this?

Text - by a wide margin.

Sure they look boring to you, but to your users, when properly integrated, they blend with the site and provide contextually relevant links.

Links that when clicked make you money... wink

Users long ago mastered the ability to not see image ads...

I must be backwards then as I don't see the text ads smile I usually take note of nice graphics.

As for the money part - I hope so.

LOL - well, I still see images, just depends on the image - takes a certain kind to filter into my brain... wink

Text ads rule, image ads drool - simple, yet true... wink

(Though I will allow that image ads have a place and well designed one can be very effective.)

One further consideration is volume. Google has more text ads in it's inventory that image based ads, so in most cases, if you show images only, it'll be the same few ads over and over...which readers will very quickly ignore...

I'll agree with that one completely - now if you stated that to begin with you would have saved typing another message smile I guess I'll stay with boring text ads. Thanks for your input.
