If your in need of a very user friendly (but professional) jpeg compressor, have a look at www.xat.com. They have a trial demo which has no restrictions and was someting I had been desperately looking for. I've reduced average download speeds of each page by up to 35-40% without any real loss of quality - shocking.
It's much better than those foudn on JASC and Macromedia as it's dedicated to doing the job.
This isn't a commercial plug as I don't even know the company but it's been a huge help.
