The Weather Channel, owners of the domain name weather.com, just redesigned their site. It is now a magnificent array of layers and javascript, and the text for a ten-day local forcast (never mind the images) weighs in at 118 KB. There must be hundreds of clear gifs, each with fully qualified URL, BORDER="0" ALT="". Not to mention a Flash navbar.

Even with a cable modem it takes a while to download. The old design was fast.

Funny thing is, they probably paid a lot for the new design, and they are probably losing money like all the other dot.coms.

The interesting fact is that the file size of Google.com homepage is just 10kb.
Amazingly they just have only one image(thier logo).

E-commerce sites can follow this principle. Add a search button and ask the user to search, instead of dumping all the products in one page.

    Side note :
    <<< Later that day ...
I checked out Google.. they have changed the page a little bit. Oh.. today is the Vals day .. For the love on web ????
