I'm working on a new film
website. I have a dilemma about whether the site should
have a background color or not.

Does the website look better like this (with a fading blue background): http://www.ukhotmovies.com/welcome.shtml

or (with plain white background): http://www.ukhotmovies.com/home

I don't like the exact hue of the blue, I'm going to change it to a
different varient of blue if I do decide to have a background colour.

Just give me your personal opinion, what looks more professional.

Incidentally, does anyone know where to get backgrounds which go from dark blue at the top to white further down...?

    With warm regards,
    Nadeem

Fading blue background gets my vote.

Nice graphic by the way (the one with the space needle and the office tower).

You could also try changing the fading blue background to fading grey, as another experiment.

Background gets my vote too! It provides separation of navigation and content. I'll agree, the graphic is pretty cool.

I do see some problems with rollover effects and not sure why they are even appearing when I pass my cursor over the top portion of that graphic.

Centered graphic would look pleasing too since your content is centered.

    Thanks for your remarks.

Everybody seems to like the graphic to the right of the navigation bar.

It's put me in a pickle now. I was going to ammend it because I didn't think it went with a website about movies; I thought it looked more suited to a 'sci-fi' site.

I was going to add a (very subtle) DVD or video reel over the sci-fi image. Any ideas?
