Hey T Dot,Welcome to the forums! Perhaps we can help you more if we knew exactly what tools you curently have, your graphics experiance and if you plan on doing more graphics work in the future. I'll start with this: First of all blowing up pictures always kills image quality unless the image is vector based. As far as I know you can setup an action in adobe photoshop that will resize crop and do anything else with your image you want it to do. However, unless you already have it at $600 Photoshop is a very expensive "resize tool". Photoshop is great! It is the indusrty standard because of the freedom it gives to the artist when working with graphics. Also Macromedia has Fireworks which can handle batch files, for around $200 I believe. hope this helps some

PhotoImpact has a batch function also. It about $70. I am not a graphics person, so this inexpensive program does all that I need. The web optimization is very easy to use, and completely controlable.

In Photoshop you would have to set it up as an action. Are you at all familiar with actions?

Actions are a recorded series of steps in Photoshop which, once recorded, can be replayed at will on images. The Photoshop Help files or manual will explain how to do it. You can also see prerecorded actions in the Photoshop Actions palette.

GREAT! Thanks everyone for your help, as the Photoshop thing did the trick for me.When enlarging pictures, how big can I go? Is there something I should set in order NOT to distort the picture and its quality. Im going from 640x480 to 800x600 and sometimes 1024x768. TIA Louie

Enlarging a bitmap _always_ distorts it. Here's a technique I've used to minimize problems when I have no other choice:Enlarge the image by 500% (if you need to go larger than that, do so by multiples that are not also multiples of 300 or 200 -- like 1100 or 1300). Blur the image gently, then reduce it to the size you really need. Sharpen it at actual size. This doesn't always work, but it does tend to reduce the jaggies. Sometimes overlaying an edge enhancement on the 500% image helps. BTW, if you're designing for the web, best to design in 1027x768 to begin with, then reduce to the other sizes. Good luck.
