ok so this whole looksmart thing is kinda confusing. I've gathered that it is its own directory yet also a PPC. When you pay them for listing, you are in the "looksmart directory" and appear under the "web directory" category in MSN and the such.
However, is the directory listing dependent on your PPC membership? like if you cancelled or stopped using the looksmart PPC, then would you still be in the "looksmart directory?" It seems weird for an open directory than can drop ppl later on.

As far as I am aware, LookSmart.com (i.e.: US) only offers LookListings which is the PPC program.
As excell says, the regional LookSmart's (Australia, UK, etc...) still offer the traditional directory listings (for a fee) with the option of also signing up for the LookListings PPC program.

I had been using the Looksmart Looklistings - Once you cancel your listing with them they take you out of the directory.

In the US / LookSmart.com yes, I believe that is the case. With regional LookSmart's they still offer the business listing only option but that might not be for long. You never know with LookSmart.
