Off and on for the last 24 hours I've tried dozens of times to submit a new URL to DMOZ. Each time the browser either returns a "cannot find server or DNS error" or simply sits there without any movement except the MSIE scroll bar at the bottom moving a little. I have waited up to 15 minutes each time after clicking the Submit button.
I even tried submitting each time I happened to wake up at 1 and 4 a.m. PDT. Although the DMOZ pages leading up the Subit URL form loaded more quickly at those hours, the problem with the Submit URL form was the same.
I can tell that DMOZ is being heavily used because during the day the initial pages are very slow to come up or return a "cannot find server or DNS error". Is this the only reason for the Submit URL failures or is something else going on if I can't submit after dozens of tries?

There has been some shifting of scripts from server to server as a reorganisation and rationalisation of what is done by the different servers. Some of these features have had various redirects in place while servers were upgraded. I think what you are seeing is that the redirects are being altered or removed, scripts moved around and so on. There may have been times when redirects pointed to non-existant scripts or things were being altered or reloaded. There was also some bug interfering with submissions, editor applications, and site updates.
There are some long threads in the ODP public forums about this too. Not sure of a timetable for a resolution to these problems, but I would hope that things will be better within days.

Hello,
Because many of you and including me are encountering this problem, I have created a little script that would ease the submission job.
What it does: You submit your data into our database, our server will attempt a submission every minute. Did the submission was successfull: you are notified by email, was it not successfull: your submission will be re-attempted until it is successfull.
I have used it with many success until now, others have benefited from it as well.
I believe that is the sollution until DMOZ get their servers configured right.
The script is free and is located at: [url removed. This script violates the DMOZ TOS and cannot be posted here.]
Just fill in the form as you would on DMOZ.
This script only works with Dutch and Englisch categories.
I hope this helps you out!

Several points:
Most of the issues were already fixed a week or more ago. I did say in a post above that I would hope that things will be better within days and they were.
Secondly, using automated scripts to submit could get you, and every site submitted through it, and every site associated with those sites, banned. Don't use scripts. It is right there in the TOS.
