for 12 months !!!! i have tried to get into dmoz in the uk.... not only have i not been successful.... but a number of times when trying to submit my website... i get errors......

Sorry.. i am usually such a nice calm collected guy..... but my boss is starting to get a little impatient to say the least....

What to do what to do?

Try going over to www.resource-zone.com, register, and fill out a site submission status report. They should be able to tell you what is going on with your ODP listing.

you know i think it's a bit amusing, with the amount of editors DMOZ has. Now i do not take anything away from the site - they have done very well for themselves - stayed a free submission and do not show advertising, but from an outsiders point of view, they seem very unorganized.
I read all these people (editors of DMOZ) stating how some sites are still in the listing queue from '00, you would think that a site that plays such a major role in the SE world would organize and keep track of their editors a bit more. Maybe make them check in once a week or month or somehow keep tabs on them and not let catagories drift like they do.

I can understand some catagories that are down the row can be lost but I'm seeing some high importance catagories saying they are not getting listed for a very long time. I also understand the amount of spam sites and what they need to do for each site to make sure they not just listing junk but it seems the process needs to be revamped a bit and make it run a bit more efficiently or someone else has to step up and take over the burden from DMOZ.

Just my thoughts - maybe not correct but what i've seen from posts around the internet on webmaster forum's

I think some of the category editor are in competition to you (They run their own website). I had the same problem. What you should do is host an ODP script and register the ODP feed on Dmoz. I bet with you you will receive this link within 2 weeks. I done it and I received two links and have now already 5 links altogether in Dmoz.

i'm going to be stupid and say i'm not exactly sure what you mean - can you explain in depth or show me a bit more on what you mean? thanks a ton smile

I also agree most likely that is a problem alot of people have is competion but what alot of people are saying is lately they can't even submit their site due to problems with the site. When you hit submit you freeze or half the time you can't even get to the site because it's down or not showing.

I use mainly the ODP link directory to get my PR with Google. I didn't experienced any problems updating or adding links in ODP. Only received sometimes an error message that the IP number couldn't be detected and Dmoz asked to resubmit.
