I paid the 199 USD for Yahoo to include my domain which they did and now 1 year later I am being asked to pay again,
Is it worth it ? Do Yahoo delete your domain if you don't renew? I have about 15 domains so it's a big decision to make either to pay or to not pay and risk deletion.

Yes they will remove you, and they will bill your credit card automatically if you don't contact them and let them know not to charge you.

It's very hard to tell you what to do. Some category's receive more traffic than others. Some people can make their 200 bucks back with one sale.

Currently, most people will receive enough traffic of the course of a year to make a sale or two. This means, that your cost is either covered, or at least lowered. And there is the Google PR effect. I'm not saying that the PR gain is worth the fee, I'm just saying it helps some what, and it does exist.

Yahoo is going to drop Google in the coming year, but inbound links matter to INK as well. It's a tough call, so much depends on your product or service, your profit margin and traffic conversion. Hopefully others will post their opinion.

Is is a bit inequitious because some of my older domains were registered with Yahoo before the 'pay-for-listing' system was invoked and they do not need to be renewed each year like the more recent domains. At the moment Yahoo hasn't dropped the domain in renewal dispute but I will keep checking.

Have Yahoo dropped Google as their search engine?

It appears that my website is no longer showing up in Yahoo though it still ranks well in Google.

No, Yahoo are currently still using Google for their primary results. They haven't actually announced that they will drop Google but their acquisition of Inktomi and Overture (and thereby AltaVista and Alltheweb) make it seem very likely.

I would say that it is worth it in 95% of instances. If you use your web site to conduct business, or as a means to get leads then you should be in Yahoo!, paying $200/yr, in my opinion is not too much to ask for for 1 years' worth of advertising. I too get a bit peeved by the fact that some of my other sites are in for good, but my newest ones I have to pay a recurring fee on. But as we all know, when it comes to SEO we have to react to whatever the industry throws our way.

    One Website Situation:
When I was waying pros and cons about paying the Yahoo Fee for a website I run, it was difficult, but I thought about it this way:
    - I definitely thought about the fact that Yahoo bought Inktomi and Overture, and figure something soon would happen w/Google Results in Yahoo (I at least didn't want to pay more down the road to be listed!).
    - It came down to approx 80 cents a day to put the listing there (from a 299 fee), which would definitely be less than I would normally pay for keywords in Overture per day - basically it would fit in my monthly ad budget.
    - The Google PR for the category I wanted my site in was good. That was the deciding factor. I could easily rationalize the expense, but the fact that it would definitely become a quality inbound link in the eyes of Google tipped the scales. As it turns out, I get a little traffic from the directory listing, but the site PR went up with the link (could be coinsidence) - I don't know if I would have done it, if I had a feeling the site would have gotten placed in a category with a low PR.
    Hope this Helps!
