I have got my website listed in Yahoo directory using the paid option and it appears just once for a search of my keyword that is just the root dir i.e www.mywebsite.com
However I see that many of my competitors have got many of their subdirs listed in yahoo.eg. www.website.com/greenwidgets www.website.com/bluewidgets etc.
How can I get Yahoo to do that for my website?

If the www.website.com/greenwidgets and www.website.com/bluewidgets are two separate content areas that would stand as a website themselves, then you can apply to get those subdirectories reviewed (you will have to pay the annual fee).

Personally, I would take a different approach, though. I would outsmart your competitors by putting up a totally separate domain name and website for each one. If you have enough unique content for a subdirectory to be listed in Yahoo, then it makes more sense to me to just make an entirely separate site. (And, of course, link it to your main website.)

Yahoo currently displays Google results when a search is performed. If you paid to be in a Yahoo category, that is where you'll find your site. If you want to get in Yahoo search results, for now, the way to do so is Google.
