Hi,

I just noticed that none of the category pages have any PR on GoGuides. They all display "0". Only the home page displays any PR.

* Does that mean that there's no value to a link from one of those pages?(assuming they don't get much search traffic)

* Also, I see many sites that offer a link (even ones you pay for) but don't link directly to your site, but rather go to a redirect page. Is there any PR value in those links or is there none since it doesn't go directly to your site, and most don't even display your url in the querystring for the link to the redirect page, but rather just an id.

Thanks very much to anyone who can shed some light on this.

vg5518, I just checked quite a few sub categories at GoGuides.org and they all have PR.

Thanks liloth, but that's very strange. I could have sworn that when I looked yesterday, everything I clicked on had a PR 0. I must be losing it, or else I was mistaken about which directory I was in at the time. smile

Well, that explains that, sort of ... anyone know anything about my other questions?

Thanks a bunch.

First, sometimes the toolbar - for various reasons - just doesn't display PR. It doesn't mean that the url you are visiting doesn't have it. Little things, like the toolbar being blocked/down/not working or the url being off (missing the www) can cause this.

Regarding redirects, Google has shown evidence of following and indexing the redirect but I don't think it counts as PR - old rule was that the link had to be direct. Redirects were often used for affiliates or to block a link from leaking PR - but that's something that is covered in depth in the Google forum wink

Thanks Crash! It seems that almost all of the directories I've worked so hard to submit to are not passing any PR on, some were fee based and some even require a fee plus a link using their own code (which of course is a direct link) so I'm passing PR out, but not getting any back.

I'll do a search over in the Google forum and see what they have to say.

Thanks again!

Im a goguides editor and we are doing a huge overhall of the site. It should be done soon. The lack of PR you are seeing is becuase the pages are new.
