I'm sure at some level this question has been discussed back and forth in here, but I didn't find a recent post on it. My question is general, and apologies if it's been done to death and I missed it. Basically, just what is the deal with Yahoo Directory listing?

My question boils down to two...

    1. If you go to Yahoo, find a listing that is also in a directory category, try to "submit a site" the way it was done in the past, you get nothing but their expedited pay service. There appears to be no way to submit a site. Actually, today that link is coming us as "404 not found", but yesterday it was coming up as express service ($299 I believe, with no option for normal non-paid listing). And....

    2. Does it even matter? Yahoo Directory listings don't seem to come up anyway as they used to, going instead to search results. I am under the impression, even if the directory listings are not used in the classic Yahoo fashion in the future, being in them is still significant for my relevancy in other prominent sqearch engines.

What do you folks think about Yahoo as it is today?

Yahoo has been charging for quite some time now. As to if a directory listing in Yahoo matters, it all depends really. There is not set answer, but in short, a directory listing does have its benefits. The cost/benefit ration, however is uncertain.

If I can post my 2 cents... I have been trying to get two sites listed for about a year. I finally got them listed and noticed they were listed in the directory for the first time yesterday. Yahoo is now sending me a fair amount of traffic. This seems to be after Yahoo dumped Google's searches, but it is definately helping! Even though these listings are in the directory, they now come up in the first page of results when doing regular searches.
