Hi,
I'm trying to get my site to go from PR 5 to 6 and for some reason I haven't been successful as of yet. I was wondering which directory(s) would be the best to submit to and that would help the most with my PR. I'm interested both in free ones and ones that cost money. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Breaking through from PR5 to 6 is tough. In my experience, a directory won't do it. You need a groundswell of people linking to you. Usually this happens from an enthusiastic customer base, or being suddenly covered in Yahoo Picks or some other large exposure media that gets people lots of people linking to you through their blogs.

You can try JoeAnt.com, GoGuides.org, Skaffe.com, Gimpsy.com and websavvy.cc. Most of these are free or you need to become an editor.

Pagerank is just one factor out of 100 in the algorithm. I wouldn't focus on that one as an important goal. Concentrate on content and visitor experience; the rest will come naturally.
Trying to gain links artificially might hurt things more.

Unfortunately, PageRank is quite important. While I agree, it should not be pursued as an end unto itself, PR really does indicate how well your site will survive the shake-ups, how likely it is to survive if your Webserver goes down during a GoogleBot visit, etc. And even though PR isn't the most important factor in getting top results, it is an important factor in stabilizing your listing. It is surely worth going after the ODP and Yahoo listing. Then, a few others, such as Zeal and JoeAnt couldn't hurt.

Found a new directory, pretty small though. Offers a minimum PR of 4 and is free.
