Last year in April I moved from New Zealand to Australia to live and set-up my business. I went through the suggested process on the DMOZ website on how to update and request a change to listings. After no change, several months later I contacted an editor for the other category I'm listed in and sent them a similar request but now it's nearly 1 year since I moved and I have had no update carried out? I was careful to make sure I followed the exact method on the DMOZ website on updating etc and also contacted a Guide on an active category which was above my one as it had no editors.
I'm listed in two different categories, one is listed under a New Zealand Business & Economy category & the other under a non regional category but says "Located in New Zealand" in the Description. While it is great to be listed in two categories and I receive a lot of traffic through these it is misleading to my customers saying I'm based in NZ when I'm based in Sydney now. Google and other SE's also included "Located in New Zealand" as they are picking this up from the DMOZ listing.
I'm unsure what to do now, if you can help or offer a suggestion then I would appreciate it.

Have you asked at http://www.resource-zone.com/ re the status of your update request?
Editors generally do not respond to emails.

If it's the site in your profile, I looked for an update request for it, but couldn't find one, or any record of one being received. If you submitted the update request(s) last year, dmoz.org was having a lot of growing pains at the time and many update requests and suggestions never really made it through. With the new servers, though, most of these are working smoothly again.
I suggest submitting another update request. If you post here when you have, I'll make sure it got through.

Thanks cbp for the link to the forums, I posted there a few days ago and the editor there said he couldn't see any details of my update so it must have something to do with what theseeker mentioned.
theseeker, I have submitted a new update and I would appreciate it if you can check to see if my update goes through ok, yes it is the site in my profile - www.glinted.com
thanks a lot for the help.

The request was received. I do not have enough knowledge of Australia's regional layout to process that for you, but in Regional, sites are listed by their location. I think the category you requested is for those who have offices in more than one location. In your case, it looks like you should ask to be moved to the more specific category for Sydney.
If it gets routed to the category you asked for, and that's not the right category, it could disappear from the directory for a while, while editors try to figure out where to put it. You might want to find the more specific category (I can't help you there because Australia has their regions laid out a bit differently than the areas I'm used to), and then submit another update request. I'll make sure the right one gets processed.

Hi theseeker,
There doesn't appear to many local web design companies listed on DMOZ but I updated the category to this one which looks to be the most appropriate although there were no other businesses listed in it: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/New_South_Wales/Regions/Greater_Sydney/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/
I hope this is better,
thanks - webprod

OK, I made sure just the most recent update request is waiting there. All the categories concerned are well looked after, so it shouldn't take too long, though I can't really estimate how long it would take.

Checked by ODP search? It is a bit buggy right now, seems its database is broken, so it does not display most of the entries. Try looking in the category itself.

yes your right, I did find it listed in there still without changes yet, it has been taken out of the other category that I wanted it moved but I can't see it in the category I requested it to be changed to yet but it might be a bit early. Thanks for your help and I'll check it again in a week.

It's not going to get listed in the one you suggested above (i.e. the Greater Sydney category) -- it's currently awaiting re-review in the Campsie locality category.

thanks motsa, I see it is listed there now. I would also appreciate it if the listing in http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Basic_Service/G/ could be changed to read Located in Australia instead of New Zealand.

I have processed the update requests for that category, including yours. It may take a few days to show up on the public side.

Search is working again as of a few days ago. Report any problems at RZ, please.
The new RDF was dumped yesterday too, and it has NO UTF-8 errors in it now (in 2.4 GB of data).
If all goes well, the new RDF will update the ODP search function within a few days too.
