I've added my site to pretty much all Directories exepc GoGuides? Is the only way to get into it to PAY? is there any GoGuides editors here who can help me get in? (my site is nonprofit)

I don't know about non-profits, but commercial sites do have to pay to get in. You might want to try to email customer support: teamsupport@goguides.org

If I have to pay, is it worth it? Do I get the kind of traffic if I use PPC? Does it help my PR link?

I'm not so sure it is a waste of money. They have a PR of 6 and claim they were spidered over 20,000 last month from major search engines looking for spam free content. If I were a major player search engine trying to keep spam out of my engine I would be spidering them also for good sites to include in my index. $40 is a drop in the bucket if you are selling a product and looking for links.

I also see a possibility of Google eventually dumping DMOZ for there lack of updating and volunteers. Go Guides or some other pay directory might be in line for a buyout to be part of google directory.
just a thought...

I think it is a good link for $40 bucks. I would do it more for the PR then for the traffic (I don't expect much (at all) traffic from them).

It could help your PR, and thus your positions. It does depend on the PR of your category though. Check your category, I would say if your category is a PR5+ and doesn't have too many links in it, it would be worth it for me.

I would be more concerned with the PR of the category you will be submitting to, and not the PR of the main GoGuides.org web site. Many of the inside categories have PR of just 0 to 2.

A lot of the GoGuides topics are 5 & 6. Even when you get deep into the topics (4 & 5 levels down) some of them carry a PR6. The home page carries a 7. I think the PR jonosteen is talking about was back when goguides was doing some script modifications but that‘s been corrected.

people concentrate too much on pagerank. just getting lots of different links from different locations helps mesh your site into the fabric of the web.

$40 one time fee for a quality directory is a total drop in the bucket.
