I have followed this situation since yesterday, it must be something they did, because on that site StrongestLinks it shows Business.com way down the list and a PR of 0. Something HUGE is happening! Does any one know of someone inside Google who could verify whats going on...many of you guys are well-connected!

Bottom line...is it still worth it to submit to business.com if their PR is 0?

google.co.uk is showing PR 9 in the toolbar - does that mean MSN is considered more important?

Not all is PR, I have gotten a more than decent amount of traffic, and sales, from listings in their directory.

Upon further investigation, Business.com appears to be suffering the dreaded "PR0 on the home page and a different PR on the interior pages" problem. There are a few different reasons why this could be happening, though.
I thought that after a few days it would be fixed. But in the case of business.com, there may be more going on here. Could Business.com be banned in Google? It sure it showing signs of being banned in Google.

OK, I just had to post this:
Business.com is suffering a PR0 because they're banned in Google. Yes, Business.com is banned in Google.
Why is business.com banned in Google? They have set up the wrong type of redirect from business.com to www.business.com. If you check the server headers for business.com, you'll see that they're delivering a "HTTP/1.1·302·Object·Moved" message which redirects you to www.business.com. OOPS! They should know that delivering a 302 will get your site banned in Google. It should be a 301 Permanent Redirect, not a 302!

Bill, that's just silly, and would be a big embarrassment for Google. But it's not true, for example,
apple.com - redirect 302 - PR 10
ibm.com - redirect 302 - PR 9
microsoft.com - redirect 302 - PR 10

I took a look, and this may be related. If you look at www.business.com with Way Back Machine,
http://web.archive.org/web/20040130050730/www.business.com/
You will see that all of the sub pages of business.com link to the main page correctly as
http://www.business.com
However, seems their webmaster recently change all sub links to now point to,
http://www.business.com/index.asp
Is the use of ASP new to business.com? I don't know. But I do know that the internal links should not be pointing to index.asp, and should be pointing to just the default domain http://www.business.com
Looks like the webmaster over there may have egg on his face.

In this case it isn't too major, it is mostly to do with the faults in Google's tool bar. Search on the word "business" and they are still number one. Linking to domain/homepage is a mistake, because Google will treat all of the following as different pages,
www.domain.xxx
domain.xxx
www.domain.xxx/homepage
domain.xxx/homepage
Because most of your inbound should be www.domain.xxx, (mostly because directories list that way), you should have sub-pages pointing to www.domain.xxx, either using absolute or relative linking. Google will figure it out soon, but for PR reasons, business.com should change the site wide homepage link, and I expect they will.
