We all know G does not show all the links to you when you run a link: request.
Playing around this evening for one of my sites, I laughed out loud (as opposed to LOL), when I found this data:
Google's showing the site as having 7 inbound links (well, 6 really, as it's showing the sitemap as one of the inbounds)
MSN, on the other hand, is showing a much kinder figure of just over 600 inbounds.
So, methinks to say "Google doesn't show all the links" is a smidge of an understatement.
In reality, I'm guessing this has more to do with their cache & updating than anything else. Yahoo/MSN are showing me inbounds from the Wikipedia, while G is oblivious to them.
Or, G is simply discounting all kinds of links - the vast amjority, by the looks of it.
Either way, I was mildly shocked to see such a wide gap in results returned form G and other engines.

Google shows about 5% to 10% of the links that they actually know about (when I have checked the link command for pages where I know the real number of links that actually exist, that is the figure that I get).
They make no statement about whether any of the links they show count for anything. They make no statement about whether any of the links that they hide count for anything. They are simply missing from the list that they let the public see.
They do this to stop people mining the data to see who links to their competitors, and for chasing PageRank. They used to show all the links, but made the change when a user suggested hiding most of the links to frustrate all the link spammers and PR chasers...
They did this about/almost 2 years ago.

Yeah, it's just funny to me when I see such graphic examples of it, though.
See, this is what happens when I have time on my hands in the evenings...LOL
