I would like to run an idea by all who read:

I work with realtors all over the US. Most realtors don't know a whole lot about website marketing... but one thing that they are told is, "reciprocal linking, reciprocal linking, reciprocal linking...".

I know that the traditional reciprocal linking concept is steadily losing weight in determining the popularity of a site. I have found, through much research that article writing is really one of the most effective ways to gain votes from other sites.

With that in mind... I have developed an idea that, I believe, will change the way real estate websites are looked at and ranked.

Here is the jest of the concept:

Articles, profiles if you will, are written talking about ONE area the realtor markets. (the reason for only one area is so that more people can participate.)

Research is done to determine the most relevant key phrases for their market area. The written profile consists of these key phrases along with additional text describing the area and the services they provide.

Using the key phrases as the anchor text, will provide links to different areas of their website which is relevant to the phrase itself. You can view an example at http://www.davidhitt.com/PageManager/default.aspx/PageID=1660171.Profiles are written for each participant and placed on other participating sites.

(I am a great writer... but horrible at explaining this concept on paper... so I am hoping that I am making myself clear. rolleyeys

This program was created to accomplish several things:
1. add creative content on a regular basis that is relevant to the real estate market
2. increase the number of one-way inbound links to multiple pages to the site
3. increase the PR for multiple pages in the site, not just the homepage (eventhough PR isn't everything... realtors think it is and find that it does have a small effect on ranking)
4. create a natural way of increasing the link popularity of a site

Each site is hand picked and must comply with minimum criteria. I want to make sure that the participating sites are relevant and of quality. The criteris isn’t that strict... so that more people have the opportunity to participate… and it’s just good practice not to forget the little people. Once these sites are found... the person is contacted by e-mail with a formal letter introducing the program and explains its advantages.

My biggest problem right now is convincing these people that this is more effective than the traditional reciprocal linking. Some of the biggest complaints are:
... costs - "already doing reciprocal linking... can't afford more"
... time
... don't really understand
... aren't convinced that this will work
... think it is some type of link farm
etc... etc... etc

So I ask... WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Hi,

It was really interesting to read your thoughts. I have been thinking a lot about the same things and is already using some of these methods in my sites.

Professional Optimizers have learned me that if you want to be ranked you have to be an authority on what your business (or website) is about. As for my own site (I'm working in the dating business) I did the following:

- Created a simple publish-system to focus on the page content.
- The publish system is "connected" to the menu-systen so that everything has a good overview.
- I created a simple system that reflects the choosen meta-keywords in the written text or article.

To include inbound links in these articles must be a migthy good idea. I think I will include a system for maintaining this as well wink

I agree there is a problem of convincing the people about this idea. Anyhow ... the results you get on this speaks for itself. Supposed you get good results it schould be no problem convincing people. People usually go for what is best wink

best wishes
Tore

Yep, article submission really helps in link popularity. Article submission is a great way to generate traffic for your site. If your articles are unique & fresh then it will help in getting more visitors. So like this way link popularity can be done.

I am not too sure why you would think this is some type of collusion. This oportunity is open to all who would like to participate. This not some secretive idea. Because I am a professional... I do not believe in decitful actions. It is against my beliefs. You really shouldn't make assumptions. You know what that means don't you? Ass-U-Me.

Why don't you ask me questions about it next time before you make comments like that.
