Hello all. I list sites that I designed in my portfolio on my site. I show thumbnails and then also include a link to the live site. I use the nofollow tag in these links for a couple reasons but mainly it's because I don't manage some of them anymore and if they start doing something blackhat, I don't want to be penalized for linking to them. My question is, when I do a link://www.domain.com (for some site I built) it shows that my site is linking to them. I thought using the nofollow tag meant SEs would not follow the link?? So how come they show me as a site that is linking to them?
Hope my question makes sense.

That attribute says nothing about spiders indexing pages that you link to: other people may link to them already, or anytime later, perhaps.
The attribute only confers that your link is not to be counted as a "vote" for that other site.

Right, but when you type in "link:http://www.domain.com" into Yahoo for example, it will show you all the sites that link to that site. My question is why is my site listed as one that's linking to them if I'm using the nofollow tag. Does this make sense?

It is listed because you DO link to them, but Google hints that you pass no PR to the other site by including the nofollow attribute.
