Sportguy,

I followed your example of the email to write and went to goDaddy to get a contact name, etc. I included the link of their link page that we would like to appear on (and we are very relevant) and then I include a link to my resource page showing them where their link is so they can see for themselves that they are already on our resource page. Then I ask for a link back and I am getting no where. It is very frustrating. We are a legitimate co who has been in business for 40 years, we are relevant to their site, and provide value to their users -- So what is the problem?

You should NOT use contact details from whois info to send link exchange emails. It's a spam.

People who are interested in link exchange, setup link exchange page with all contact details specifically for link exchange only. You should use that contact info to contact them. Most probably, their you will find some "ADD URL" form. In that case, you don't need to email them asking for link. You have to link them from your pages using their links details and then filled that form to add your URL to their site.

Yeah but a ton of sites have link pages and no "add url" form. I didn't know whois is spam - it was recommended on this board.

Yeah but a ton of sites have link pages and no "add url" form.

It means that those webmasters don't want to get link exchange request. Some webmaster prefer to go on link hunting to find quality sites only. So help them by adding "Add URL" form on your site smile

it was recommended on this board.

I would check the date(s) on when that was recommended. Most likely it was a long time ago.

I personally don't recommend any link exchanges anymore.

Yes, some webmasters dont provide link back eventhough they accept reciprocal links. Sometime they miss the msg sent. Better contact them couple of times during the week. If they dont do anything for 10 days you can assume they are interested. I face this problem too.

I think they see your company as a competitor so they are afraid you might have their clients
