If you post yourself on a social site such as technorati or digg, its not a good thing. So, if you have good content, give your visitors a way to post it on a social media site from your site. Digg and Technorati have widgets that you can add to your page. Many CMS systems also provide these widgets. (Copy Shortcut)

Quality content is king online in many cases, but unique different and fresh usually wins in the social circles... You also have to account for different attitudes in different places.
