They're angling for a deal with our network and I'm wondering if there's anyhting ooky about them.
Anyone have any experience with them?
I know (and use) TextLinkAds myself, but hadn't really heard of these guys until now. The claim to "be the largest"...
This is NOT for a link building campaign. We run a network that shows about 400,000,000 ad impressions a month, and we're thinking of adding text links as part of a new package. Not really pitching it as SEO, as we haven't decided yet on hard coded links or through-the-ad-system links.
Only two flags waved for me:
1 - the guy we're talking to is using a gmail e-mail address...wtf?
2 - they wanted to keep questions to e-mail and wanted to dissuade us from a phone call - they relented and we're speaking to them shortly.
Other than that, their site copy hits the right notes and says the right things.
Any feed back on them is appreciated.
Duane

no, but you may want to consider this little news item form google
I just found out the google wants us to report paid links.
when did they do this?
here the article on google master page
[link]
so others can now report us if we used paid links and we will be penalized for it; and we must exclude ads and paid links in the robots txt file?
its posted to the forum here

Google has been asking this for a little while now.

I have not heard anything negative about them in particular, but I wonder how appropriate it is for an SEO network to advertise a dinosaur business model. Paid links are dead, and can do more harm than good. It's a bit like a hospital accepting advertising from a tobacco company...

Exactly my concern mark. Since Google has been stepping up it's "Report paid links to us" campaign, it's only a matter of time before a true witch hunt begins when competitors start snooping for a way to out others in an effort to get ahead.
...my spidey senses are telling me something here...which was why i recommended to my company we simply not sell static links, no matter how much money is offered - just say no. So that's the current policy - we won't sell static text links.

...and maybe you should even block advertising link selling companies through AdSense? As I am reading this, I see a Google ad at the bottom of the page:
