Hey guys,
I have a site in a very small industry that has very little web exposure. There are literally no blogs or athoritative sites to try to get links from. I have a page rank of 2 with only 50 or so links. I really would like to get some more decent links but don't know what to do. Should I consider paid link programs? Any help is appreciated.

try social book marking and those article submit sites or some decent directories

remember its not the quantity of the links you have its the quality and the 50 and so links would be enough to rank you well, you want to rank well or just get more links?

This is GREAT news; it's 1995 again! Make your site the authoritative site on the topic, and write the (quotable, linkable) blog about it too.
Don't waste your money on paid links. Don't worry about PageRank, or links, or other external stuff.
Do worry about making your site the best possible. Make sure you have tight HTML, coding, SEO and a nifty design. Add lots of well written, timely, authoritative content. Blog it. Make some (well produced) videos and post 'em on your site. Given that your industry seems to be not too Web savvy, you should be able to climb to the top of the technological anthill pretty quickly.
PS add a link to your Web site in your profile; then we can take a look at it and provide fuller answers.

Hello,
Well it sounds like your on the right path with building quality links to increase your page rank. SEO and building links can be very time consuming and it can take you away from your #1 Goal which is earning money. It may be best to have a professional website marketing firm handle that part of your business. Take a look at this site <removed>. They are a legit company with some of the best prices.

Bayton do you by any chance work for that company?
I checked the name in his profile and did a little googling and it does indeed appear that he has represented himself as part of said site elsewhere, as well as playing the shill game on forums.
IMO, this is really one of saddest, most pathetic attempts at marketing there is. We call it "discovering yourself" when a site rep refers to their site in the third person, like they have no connection at all. 
Unfortunately, it's also an all too common occurrence and companies actually hire people to do guerilla marketing.
"Hi, I'm new here, has anyone ever used <link> before? I've just heard about them and think they sound fantastic!"
They are after two things... (1) hoping people will visit their site and (2) linkdropping to boost their SE results.
