I am soon to promote a UK based e-commerce website. An obvious move would be to submit it to Yahoo! I have got that far but because this site appeals to an international market I am not sure whether I need to submit to Yahoo! UK & Ireland and/or the US Yahoo.com. Do the results come up differently? The only real difference I can see is you pay once a lifetime instead of once a year... ..any comments? Thanks Nick

Submit your site to Yahoo UK. It will also appear in Yahoo.com

If you have an international e-commerce site, I would submit to Yahoo rather than Yahoo UK & Ireland. That's what I did for a client who wanted international coverage for their website for an industrial plant located in Germany. The website now ranks very well in the results for both Yahoo US and Yahoo UK. So, the $299 per year Yahoo fee is definitely worth it, for the English language coverage.

Why doesn't everyone submit through Yahoo UK? There must be some flaws when compared to the .com version... right?

I believe that if the business is based in the UK, then you need to be submitted through Yahoo! UK & Ireland. Your website will still show up in Yahoo! US, and the results should still be the same.

I`m afraid everyone`s submitting to YHUK, nick as there are more free entrances. So there are no other flaws except some monies saved imo.

My God!Yes! It is a one time fee on Uk. I'd never noticed that. What a bargain! How long can that last? Surely it's only a matter of time before it goes the way of the US?

Description is good because they probably wont edit it. You have only used few, select, non-promotional words.Yahoo! Express program promises your site will be reviewed within 7 days! Good luck

I faced a similar dilemma. You can read about it under my post "Which Yahoo?" under the Web Directories forum. I explain my situation, what Yahoo said, and what happened.
I know for a fact Yahoo UK and Yahoo .com share the same website directory. What I'm NOT sure about is if PageRank is affected by which you submit to.
I've heard from one credible source that getting into one English language Yahoo gets you into them all. Does anyone know if that is true?
