Almost every page has changed in PR. SERP has not changed a bit.Backlinks have changed dramatically on one site, so definitely backlinks have been updated. Yahoo's, has a much more predictable pattern than Google, atleast on Backlinks. I dont think Google PR update has stabilised, It may take a week's time.

If a site goes from a PR6 to a PR7, what is the bennifit other than it looks good on the Tool Bar?

GooD God,
Google dance start with this PR update, tomarrow it shows my site PR3 (it is PR4 till 12/31/2004) & now it again PR4.
Some other pages shows down PR (after 05 update)is still showing same PR as of 1/2/05.
My recent launch links directory have no PR before 12/31/04.
It got PR3 on 1/1/05
And on 1/02/05 it show me PR0.

my sites PR are almost stable for the last 24 hours. Its only a PR update, no SERP changes. A pr4 site (previously PR6) still rules my favorite keyphrase.

Can someone explain the value of each PR, what bennifit is it to have a PR 4 or 5 or 7 or 8. Do u get more traffic? Is site indexed more often?

rossendryv - Basically, the higher the PR, the better your positions are likely to be in the serps at Google. Hence you should get more traffic.

But I can not 100% agree with you, as if you will do some search atgoogle now, you can find even site with 0PR have top in SERP.

PageRank can be thought of as a model of user behavior. We assume there is a "random surfer" who is given a web page at random and keeps clicking on links, never hitting "back" but eventually gets bored and starts on another random page. The probability that the random surfer visits a page is its PageRank.
So you have 100% probability of hitting a site like google, more or less if you keep following links. From:

search for it, it's many places.
However, what you see in your toolbar is probably not what google uses internally any more, or just a rough version of that.
Some pages with low PR will rank quite high in the serps, as you can easily see for yourself. [remember, it's your page that has PR, not your site]

PR as seen in the toolbar is nothing much to worry about IMO. What is good to consider is a genuine positioning on the web that is relevant to your web site & your users, the search engines will like that in general - no need to pump it up or worry on the matter - just go about your business of linking appropriately and naturally.
If more SEOs took a personal and realistic approx to establishing good traffic flow linkages the business of positioning would be enhanced. Instead, the emphasis on a fake ideal (namely Google PR) is annoying to say the least and possibly damaging to say the most  All my own opinion of course!
